Gulf of Mexico Burial at Sea for Edgar Giles RIP

Edgar Giles Oct 16, 1945 – June 22, 2014

Ed Giles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Ed earned his first degree from the University of South Alabama. There he met and married his best friend for the rest of his life, Dianne. Ed served his country as a Captain in combat in South Korea before moving to Louisiana. In Lafayette Ed proudly worked as a Certified Public Accountant at his own company; belonged to the Petroleum Club and Rotary Club International; and completed his Master’s degree at the University of Louisiana. Though he approached work and education seriously, Ed was well known and appreciated for his wit and humorous perspective. He had a quirky story or bit of advice for any situation!

Ed’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his adored wife of 46 years, Dianne Giles; son and daughter-in-law Gino and Sophie Giles of Taipei, Taiwan; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Daniel Northcutt of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren Ara Giles, Charlie Northcutt, and Harper Northcutt. He often said that having children was wonderful–and then you get grandchildren!

Edgar Giles Family Burial at Sea Gathering

The Giles family reached out to AAA Charters Tuesday for direction in arranging a burial at sea for their beloved during their Alabama Gulf Coast vacation this week. It is our honor to arrange a respectful Gulf of Mexico burial at sea for your loved ones. We have a fleet of over a hundred charter boats for-hire and can make arrangements for large groups and small gatherings to spread ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. Captain Gary Goodwin took the family about 4 miles off the beach of Gulf Shores Alabama the next day on the charter boat Jamie G for the family’s final farewell to Ed. The family created this lovely biodegradable vessel and flowers to carry his ashes into the Gulf.
Biodegradable Urns are also now available. Call for details.
