Thursday Jan 5 Inshore Fishing for 2 anglers with Captain Tom Myers

Two men from Illinois called AAA Charters looking for a party boat fishing trip the next day. We made a round of calls and none of the local headboats had any where near enough to go fishing the next day. Eric was a bit disappointed but quickly became excited about the fishing trip we could arrange! They met Captain Myers at the dock at 9 AM in Orange Beach AL with a live well of live bait, the three men went in search of the fish! The day started a bit slow with a couple catfish taking the bait, but the tide began moving and the fish started biting! They caught quite a few sheepshead at the rocks in Perdido Pass and a few nice red drum (redfish) near the pass. Several AAA Charter Inshore Captains also report that the pompano bite is on. Pompano is a local favorite, and a glorious tasting fish! AAA Charters is always just a call away at 251-609-2525. Call to find out what is biting now.

The docks along the Alabama Gulf Coast are buzzing – Annual Cobia Run is ON!

Cobia are likely to only be around for a few more weeks, so come catch one while you can. Cobia make an annual migration through the waters off the shores of the FL panhandle and the Alabama Gulf Coast each spring. This year the first cobia of the season were caught at the end of March and our local charter boats captains have been hunting these tasty fish ever since. These are a fast growing species of Gulf of Mexico fish that weighing in at 30-40-60-80 lbs! The current AL state records is 117 lbs. 7 oz.! As Gulf of Mexico waters warm the majority of cobia begin to migrate west and a few move offshore to underwater structures. We expect cobia to be around for a few more weeks and our Captains are focused on trolling along the beaches of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach AL to reel more big ones in! Come join the hunt for Cobia on the Gulf Coast.

What’s Biting along the Alabama Gulf Coast Spring 2015

The second week of March this year offered a challenging forecast for arranging fishing charters for those traveling to the beach for Spring Breaks. A low pressure system sat in the western Gulf of Mexico and pumped rain across the entire Southeast US all week long. AAA Charters knew that several kids had their hearts set on having the opportunity to fish during their Spring Break visits to Alabama. We kept our eyes on the radar screen all week allowing us to set up family fishing charters during the longer rain breaks and the FISH BITE WAS ON! There were lots of big smiles from anglers this week and some coolers of fish for the captain to clean!
